The Djebel Sidi Labiadh migration bottleneck

The best birding spot for raptors during migration

Many migratory bird species are using the Central Mediterranean Flyway via Tunisia and Italy during  their prenuptial migration from their African wintering areas to their Eurasian breeding sites. Between 20 000 and 40 000 storks, cranes and raptors follow the Tunisian Dorsal mountain chain from the South to the North and overfly the agricultural landscape of the Cape Bon before engaging in the 160 km long journey from Djebel Sidi Labiadh to Sicily. Many birds stay for some days on the Cape Bon and thanks to the more extensive type of agriculture they find rich food resources.
