“In February, I completed a one-week birding and culture tour designed and led by Mohamed Elgolli. Tunisia is a “lightly” birded country (I wound up being the #3 birder for Tunisia by the end of the week! ) and local knowledge is essential to get the most out of the visit. Mohamed has birded all the habitats of Tunisia in all of the seasons. He has his personal spotting locations which were very productive, and we were very successful in finding nearly all of our target species (100+ overall; 48 new for me). Mohamed is also an excellent bird photographer and helped me capture many great photos.
It was very easy to work with Mohamed to personalize a tour that mixed birding and cultural sites in Tunisia. It turned out to be a private tour with Mohamed and a professional Tunisian tour guide (who was also a good bird spotter). I enjoyed getting to know them both over our week together. Mohamed is a very kind man who shares his passion for birds, photography, and his country making this trip extremely rewarding.”
